What is the PowerMoves Kids™ Program? PowerMoves
Kids™ was developed to give schoolteachers a program they can use in the
classroom to: a.
Support group focus,
discipline and unity; b.
Highlight valuable
character traits; c.
Encourage students
to memorize and recite important quotes, literature and proverbs; d.
Stimulate
meaningful communication about life principles, history and literature; e.
Maintain cohesion
during transitions between subjects and activities; and f.
Promote healthy
self-esteem and an active lifestyle. All while helping students burn
off extra energy and
build physical strength and flexibility! The PowerMoves Kids™
Curriculum is divided into PK-G2; G3-5; and G6-8. Quotes, literature
selections and class projects are based on grade level. How do you teach PowerMoves Kids – in a few
minutes, as a separate class, or…? A number of ways!
PowerMoves Kids™ can be presented: a.
In the classroom:
in short increments of 1-5 minutes for transitions, downtime, or as a quick
rally when group focus is needed; b.
As a whole class
(LOTS of curriculum ideas!); c.
As a group reward
for a difficult task completed; d.
To encourage students
to move and speak in positive ways individually and together as a group; e.
As a separate
class during Physical Education; or f.
As part of an
After-School Program. “It’s a wonderful tool
to help you maintain control of your class when you have 10 minutes of
downtime or at the end of the day. Kids look forward to the physical activity
of it…not realizing they’re getting the character training at the same
time.” Patty Webb, Teacher
