She is the Founder of the PowerMoves Kids™ Program – the FIRST program to offer fitness and character educations solutions for the classroom.

 

Laurette is the developer of the Storytelling4Schools.com program for the Oklahoma Arts Council. She has been a Teaching Artist with the OAC since 1993.

 

Laurette is the author of several fitness-related projects for Harvest House Publishers including The Busy Woman’s Guide to Total Fitness (Harvest House Publishers).

 

Laurette is Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Specialist with the International Fitness Professionals Association.

 

As a speaker, actor and workshop leader, Laurette has presented programs to staff and students at hundreds of schools and universities from coast-to-coast.

 

An award-winning actor and playwright, she studied Theatre Arts at New York University, and is an Artist on the Touring Rosters of the , Oklahoma Arts Council, and has worked extensively with Indian Education-funded programs (she was the first artist in NACAIR – Native American Culture Artist-In-Residence program in Oklahoma). She has also appeared in several Telly award-winning educational videos with CHIEF Productions.  

 

Laurette wrote, directed and performed in the new drama for the Cherokee Heritage Center (formerly home of the acclaimed Trail of Tears outdoor drama). Under the Cherokee Moon premiered to critical acclaim during the summer of 2007 and promises to be a yearly favorite in Laurette’s adopted hometown of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, capital of the Cherokee Nation.

 

Laurette is known for her original one-woman shows wherein she portrays famous women from history, as well as storytelling and wacky musical comedy, earning her the name of “The Woman of 101 Voices” on the New York stage.

The Curriculum has 48 Mix n’ Match Lesson Plans with group activities, stories, crafts, questions and assignments for each Character Trait and PowerMoves Kids posture. 
 
Written for Classroom Teachers Grades PK-2, 3-5 and 6-8, it may also be adapted for high school students (who love doing these postures, too!).
 
Physical Education Teachers will enjoy using the PowerMoves Kids postures and curriculum for an occasional change of pace, or separate class.
